Cognition & Context
The outcome that the lab is focused on is children's mathematics performance. Especially individual differences seen in classrooms.
Our theoretical approach
is a complex systems view of human cognition and its context. While
cognitive processes can be examined as dynamic systems, they also sit
within a larger context. That context includes everything from the
person's math anxiety, motivation, socioemotional skills to external
environmental factors like low air quality.
Our methods include a combination of behavioral studies, human neuroscience, and computational modeling.
